AFA.2018.0174_Emploitation of Requalification of Quinta da Alfarrobeira, Benfica - Lisboa

Quinta da Alfarrobeira is a country house with a small palace, stables, vacaria, gardens, vegetable garden and woods built in the first half of the century. XVIII (1727), integrating in the eighteenth and eighteenth century spirit of construction of leisure farms in the outskirts of Lisbon. It was its owner the Architect João Frederico Ludovice (1670-1752). The property, which was acquired in 1720 and extended from Caneiro de Alcântara to the top of Monsanto, contained a chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Conceição, which was renovated as part of the construction of the mansion and the rest of the Quinta, completed in 1727 (SIPA). The Quinta manifests a square plan with staggered volumes and sober lines. The façade of the main building is divided into two floors, revealing a regular arrangement of rectangular spans. It also has a door to the center (topped by a window), through which access to the interior is processed.
