AFA.2017.0116_Alteration of Building Sito in Rua do Sol, 162-172 - Porto

It is located in a zone of the city formally conditioned, from the archaeological point of view (ZAP 01 - Set classified of the Historical Zone of the Port). Rua do Sol corresponds to an old way out of the city that departed from the Porta do Sol - former Postigo de Santo António do Penedo - towards Rua do Reimão (current Rodrigues de Freitas Avenue) and the Campanhã Standard, with references To previous designations, such as the alley of Taipas and Rua da Boavista. At the end of the eighteenth century, it was designated Rua Nova do Sol, probably as a result of the almadina reform of the wicket, transformed in 1768 into the monumental Porta do Sol. The building is subject to the pretension of the Chapel of Our Lady of August (Chapel of the Tailors) and the old Recollection of Our Lady of Sorrows and St. Joseph, today Lusófona University of Porto, with which were collected archaeological materials from the Roman period.
