Archaeological excavations carried out in the Church of Travanca, made known 380 graves, some of which came from the Middle Ages, about a thousand years ago.
The ship was all excavated, as well as the high altar and the south facing. "Some 380 graves have been discovered and excavated, but not all of them are intact," Carlos Ferreira, an archeologist with the archaeological firm "AFA", said, along with Linda Melo, an anthropologist, and João Abrantes, an archaeologist, studying the site.
Some objects like buttons, rosaries and rosaries were found.
The vast majority of the graves are contemporary, the oldest being about 100 years old.
